So tomorrow is finally Friday!! What can I say? I never thought I would love a place more than I love being home. Yet, Texas State totally takes it. Everything here is just amazing. The professors are strict — I mean, it’s college — but they are also really funny and engaging. I haven’t had the best week, as you may have read in my post “Keeping my promise,” and I’d be a liar if I said I had. Even though the bad moments I’ve had have made me miss home, I can honestly say I wouldn’t leave. This is my new home and yes, it’s been a tug-of-war between getting to class and spending money, but it’s all worth it.
One thing I love about being here are the things to do. There’s the river, which is absolutely beautiful and refreshing in this heat. You know, back where I am from, we have a lake but I would never go in there. Yet here I didn’t even think twice about making that jump.
Also, the people here are amazing. There is not a time where I have encountered someone with a bad face — well, maybe just at 8 a.m. when we are all walking to class. Hahaha! But even then, that doesn’t change the people later on. Everyone always has a smile and everyone will talk to you.
In the short time I’ve been here, I have met so many people, it’s honestly mind-blowing. I honestly love all of this. I’ve met one new person a day and it’s one of the best things that can happen to someone. I just think that even when you are shy can you still make friends. I’ve realized that sometimes stepping outside of your comfort zone is a lot more helpful than staying in a little bubble.
The bottom line of all of this is that I love my classes and my professors. I know my semester is going to be tough but I’m willing to work for it. Now, I shall tell you all goodbye because this girl is going to go learn some self-defense. Wish me luck!
